The Alliance is a global partnership of 39 nationally-based linking organisations, including an international secretariat, working to support community action on AIDS in developing countries.
The Alliance’s vision is a world in which people do not die of AIDS. It aims to achieve this by building the capacity of local civil society organisations (providing technical support, encouraging knowledge sharing, supporting fundraising and policy and advocacy work) to enable them to reach some of the communities most at risk of HIV with prevention, care and support services.
The international secretariat has its main base in Hove, East Sussex, with additional offices in the US, Belgium, Geneva and India and regional representatives based in Ukraine, Thailand, Senegal and Argentina.
Challenge
The Alliance was keen to align its future IT strategy with the core business focus and priorities, so key stakeholders from within the business contributed to the subsequent workshop sessions and provided vital feedback. This included detailed analysis of the long-term business strategy, organisational culture and investment plans.
They contacted SysGroup and requested an ICT Risk and Strategy Assessment, eventually selecting SysGroup after a bidding process.
Solution
The ICT Assessment and consulting exercise was comprehensive, including:
- Current State assessment of the core IT infrastructure
- Evaluation of existing hardware and software
- Backup and DR processes
- ICT management and security
- Evaluating operational challenges and user issues
- Identifying a future vision for the organisation’s IT strategy
- Planning new IT initiatives
SysGroup understood, from the beginning, our needs as a not-for-profit organisation. The team provided a comprehensive blend of strategic advice, as well dealing with the more immediate problems we were facing. I am now able to move forward with a strategy that will leverage the most of new technology on the market, whilst delivering value for money for our donors.
